We had a fantastic afternoon in PE playing golf. The children learnt how to hold a golf club correctly and what their standing position should be when hitting the ball. They throughly enjoyed their activity, which allowed them to gain points based on how accurately they hit the balls into an area.
This week, the children have planned, drafted and edited their formal letters. Today, they were very excited to publish their writing, focusing on presentation by using their neatest handwriting. The final results are superb.
After completing a paper last week, we were able to identify questions that we found challenging and focus on finding efficient strategies in order to solve them. This week, we looked at finding fractions of amounts and division missing number problems. There were lots of great discussions and reasoning when the children applied their learning in snakes and ladders.
We had the best outdoor science lesson this afternoon. In small groups, the children created classification keys, that could be used to identify different animals in our local area. After discussing their chosen animals, they created questions based on their characteristics to help identify and differentiate between them.
This afternoon, whilst enjoying the glorious sunshine, we took part in a sensory treasure hunt! The children had to use their senses to find and identify different objects around our Forest School area. Afterwards, they enjoyed some time playing on the new equipment and connecting with friends. 😊
Our new Learning Mission is going to allow us to explore our local area, by focusing on local history and geography.
This week, we have been learning about the countries that make up the United Kingdom, locating their capital cities and exploring other major cities. I was impressed by the children’s knowledge and understanding about capital cities.
We kick started our day with our first dance class of the summer with Sam Rich! As our production this summer is ‘The Greatest Showman’, we our will be dancing to ‘The Other Side’. The children listened really carefully and quickly picked up the steps. I can’t wait to watch the routine unfold over the next few weeks!
We had the best afternoon in the sunshine with JD, developing our batting and fielding skills in a fun cricket inspired activity!
As the children wanted the audience of our writing to be Peter Brown, the author of The Wild Robot, we decided to share it with him via Twitter. Amazingly, he has seen their fantastic writing and recognised their hard work!
