Seed Dispersal

We have had so much fun during science this week! After learning about the methods of seed dispersal, the children used their imaginations to design and then create their own seed. Firstly, they had to carefully decide what features the seed would have in order for it to be dispersed using one of the methods. It has been very impressive to observe their creativity during science and how the children have loved learning about a scientific concept in this practical way.

International Mud Day!

There have been lots of extremely happy (and muddy) children in Chestnut Class today as we have had a lot of fun celebrating National Mud Day. They have created a mud sculpture of the world with local artist Dan Metcalfe, mud faces using anything in our forest schools areas and mud paintings. They even spent time in our garden and worked fantastically as a team to transform it into an environment where our plants will grow successfully!

Athletics Day

Today, the children in KS2 took part in an Athletics Day at Thirsk High School with lots of other children in the area. They loved all of the activities that included obstacles courses, throwing, long jump, high jump and tug of war to name a few! I was very impressed by their team work, determination and how well the communicated in their teams.
